Meet our authors.

 

Lorraine Gradidge

 

The wife of an Officer in the Guides Cavalry stationed on the North West frontier of what is now Afghanistan and Pakistan from 1929 to 1945. She writes her memoirs very succinctly and skilfully narrates events in a colourful but precise style. English, written as it should be written, communicating much with few words. She died several years ago and her son Francis Gradidge worked with Podkin Press to get these memoirs out to a wider audience.

 

Paddy Macklin

 

Recounts his life as a live aboard sailor and describes his single handed reound the world voyage in a vivid style with good photographs illustrating his past and the dangers of the sea. Paddy lives on his boat Tessa which is based in Cornwall.

 

Anthony Montague Browne DFC CBE KCMG

 

His book Long Sunset, the memoirs of Winston Churchill's Last Private Secretary has been critically acclaimed and enjoys popularity worldwide. Sadly he died in 2013. A World War Two aviator with the RAF, he was a distinguished diplomat, international banker and  former Chairman of the Churchill Trust.

 

Brenda Hooks Harris

 

Her children's book Poultry at Lavender Cottage is about the coming of age of a young free range Rhode Island Red Bantam Hen in an English country garden. The book promotes good values for young people about food and healthy eating habits as well as an appreciation for raising free range hens. She has been an activist in the Healthcare Industry and Prevention of Child Abuse programs in several states in the USA. The book is in colour and with illustrations by Shirley N. Jones.

 

We have just launched the UK edition of her latest book "Poultry Snowed In at Lavender Cottage" on September 5th 2023 in London and it is now available on www.the greatbritish bookshop .com.
